Quite often when I think about the seniors on this football team, I think about the quality of individuals that helped make this season such a success.
I look back to the beginning of off-season workouts and look at the work ethic, determnation, and attitudes that each of these fine young men brought to the game. Not all of these seniors are gifted athletes. But all of these seniors bring something to the game that can't be coached, and that is heart!
Playing the game of football with a big heart is not coachable. These athletes left everything on the field day in and day out. To most of them, being part of a team and pushing one another to be the best was more important to them than choosing to pursue other opportunities.
Without question, these seniors will be forever remembered as a group of young men with integrity and class. These young men will be forever remembered as the group of seniors who set the standards for excellence.
I feel as though excellence and success go hand-in-hand. Excellence is based on years of success, and success can be reached by demanding excellence. I hope these young men can take with them the abilities and work ethic they have displayed over their careers. Playing football is a lot like the game of life, "You get out of it what you put into it."
I wish these young men the best of luck in all future endeavors, and wish them the best of luck in the most important game of all, LIFE!
