2009 Gridders Club Senior Banquet
Senior Football Players
Nathan Bair - WR/DB
Hard-working receiver with reliable hands, crisp route-runner and a tough wide-out willing to take a hit to make a catch. Very coachable and versatile athlete who played all three receiver positions throughout the season.
Coty Betts - OL/DL
Experienced lineman who started every game. Smart player who worked hard to learn and install a new blocking scheme for both runs and passes, also served as a leader in the weight room over the summer sessions.
Brandon Bodine - OL/DL
New to football this season and outshined every member of the team with his inquisitive nature and willingness to learn, asked all the right questions to prepare himself for the weekly opponent. Very cerebral player who proved to be very coachable and established himself as a fixture on the offensive line and earned 2nd team All-NTL selection.
Kirk Butler - WR/DL
Aggressive defensive player with good speed and a willingness to hit anything, worked hard to make up for a lack of size as a defensive lineman with his tenacious play and aggressive nature.
Dan Fuller - WR/DB
Athletic and speedy wide receiver who was another new comer to football this season. A cerebral player who ran crisp routes and adapted to playing two different receiver positions.
Caleb Getty - WR/DB
An extreme athlete who joined the football team for the first time this season. Speed, strength, and attitude earned him playing time on the defensive side of the football and on a majority of special teams. Was a fixture on the field and was aggressive while representing Wellsboro.
Colin Janeski - RB/DB
Athletic player, who rejoined football this season having not played since middle school, was a versatile player who played defensive back, safety and linebacker on the defensive side of the ball and saw a number of plays on the offensive side of the ball as a running back and receiver.
Nate Luczak - OL/DL
An aggressive, strong, and quick monster of a lineman who unfortunately struggled with injuries that limited playing time on the field but did not affect the nature of play. A popular player with his teammates and a force on the defensive line that limited opponent effectiveness in the running game.
Aaron Moss - RB/LB
Strong, speedy, aggressive linebacker who finishes his career near the top of the tackling list at Wellsboro. Heady player who diagnoses situations very well and always plays with a high motor. Injuries limited playing time this year and his presence was missed on the defensive side of the ball.
Richie Straniere - RB/LB
Gym rat who built himself into a prototype linebacker before injury ended his season. Popular and respected leader of the team, elected captain by his peers, aggressive hitter with good speed who would have been a solid contributor on both sides of the ball this past season.
Senior Manager(s)
Sylvia Clapp
Reliable, dedicated, and hard-working girl who contributed a great deal to the everyday operations within the program. Was a constant at practices and games despite temperature, weather, or time of day. Unsung hero of water supply, injury maintenance, and practice organization.
