Senior Football Players

Chase Barnes - RB/LB

Chase Barnes

In his 4th year as a Green Hornet, Chase was chosen by the staff to be the vocal leader of our team, a role he flourished in. What Chase brings to the team in terms of leadership will not soon be replaced. He was an extra coach on the field. On the offensive side of the ball he blocked well opening big holes for Thomas Johnston and Ben Shaw. He also picked up a number of key 1st downs from his full back position. On defense, he was a strong consistent player. Often playing on the weak side away from the play, Chase was always in a position to make big plays against the cut back. His 2 interceptions placed him 2nd on the team in that category. Chase is looking to continue his football career in college at the Division II or III level.

Seth Bechtel - WR/DB

Seth Bechtel

Seth is a 3 year member of the Hornets. In that time he has grown as a player. He was a standout special teams player who did everything from kicking extra points to covering punts and kickoffs. His speed, coupled with his never give-up attitude, made it hard for teams to keeping him from making plays. Seth is looking at going to college and possibly continuing his career playing Sprint Football at Mansfield University.

Austin Cooper - OL/DL

Austin Cooper

Another 4 year Hornet, Austin had a tough job over the past 2 years, he anchored a very young line. He was a good lineman that we often ran behind, especially in tough situations. In both of our overtime victories we ran Iso right at his hole to secure the wins. On defense Austin came into his own this year. He was a defensive leader, leading the team in just about every category but interceptions. The testament to his abilities and desire to win showed as he ran the ball carriers down in all parts of the field. Austin's future is undecided, but there is no doubt that he could play at the next level as a defensive end or tackle.

Thomas Johnston - RB/LB

Thomas Johnston

For the 4th year in a row Thomas has made an impact on both sides of the ball as a Green Hornet. Offensively he had the game of his career rushing for 208 yards against CV. He is a tough, hard-nosed runner, who overpowers defenses with his natural strength. Thomas had defenses on alert as to his location on offense as they knew he could make plays with running or catching the ball. On the defensive side of the ball Thomas ended his career with over 400 tackles, this despite missing a game and a half. He was one of the top defensive statistical leaders again making plays from one end of the field to the other. Thomas was the center of our defense and played with a purpose, to win. Thomas' immediate plans for college are not yet complete, but he definitely has the ability to play on the defensive side of the ball when he gets there.

Jake Page - RB/DB

Jake Page

Jacob was the surprise of the senior class. A first year player, Jacob used his speed, strength, and athleticism to make an impact on defense and special teams. Jake switched fall sports this season, opting to play football instead of run cross country. In the beginning he worried about his lack of football knowledge, but quickly began to work towards a starting role. His work on special teams early in the year paved the way for his move to defensive line before the Wyalusing game. He created havoc in the backfield of the Rams all night by shooting the gaps and hitting players behind the line of scrimmage. He was instrumental in our win that night and again the following week against Loyalsock. Two teams we hadn't beaten in a long time.
