Week 3 of the 2007 season saw Muncy pick up its first win of the season, along with Troy knocking off North Penn. Towanda improved its record to 3-0 on the year, as they stomped Cowanesque Valley. With a 2 game winning streak to start the 2007 season, the Athens Wildcats came into town to face the 1-1 Hornets in a big week 3 matchup in the NTL. Athens, led by Junior Quarterback Shane Raupers, struggled early against a tough Hornet defense. Unlike last year, the Hornet defense played a solid first half of football, allowing only 52 yards of total offense.

The Wellsboro Hornets traveled to Troy to pick up where they left off from Saturday night's postponed game with Canton. After scoring on the opening drive, Wellsboro was only able to muster one more scoring drive on the evening. The fourth quarter was neck and neck between both teams, but Canton was able to pull out the 24-16 victory over the Hornets, dropping Wellsboro's record to 1-1 on the season. In JV action, the Warriors shut out the Hornets 28-0.

Saturday's game against Canton has been postponed due to lightning. The game will start on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Troy. The JV game scheduled for home on Monday will be played immediately following the Varsity game. The bus will depart from the Middle School on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday marked the first Junior Varsity game for the Hornets. The Hornets got off to a slow start allowing South Williamsport to put up 6 quick points. The Hornets remained sluggish for the rest of the half, as South Williamsport put up 20 points and kept the Hornets scoreless.

The 2007 season got underway tonight as the South Williamsport Mounties came to town to face off against the Hornets. South Williamsport was ready for the challenge, fresh off their momentum that carried them to the Eastern Conference Playoffs last year. The Hornets were not scared though, as the matched their momentum for the opening kickoff.

Meet The Hornets is not only a chance for the community to recognize the upcoming fall sports teams at Wellsboro, it is also a chance to acknowledge letter winners from the previous year. Each year, the Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club awards Wellsboro's upper classmen with Lettermen's Jackets after they have met the requirements in their respective sports.

Meet The Hornets is scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place in the High School Gym.

Monday, August 27 will be Media Day for the Hornets. At 9:45 a.m., all athletes need to report to the WNBT Radio Station to start recording sponsorship commercials for the upcoming year. At 4:00 p.m., all athletes need to be at the Middle School field for team pictures. Please be dressed and ready to go by 3:45 in all home game gear. After pictures are finished, we will have practice to get ready for South Williamsport.
