Celebrating 50 Years
September 27, 2008 Ed WeaverGoing undefeated in a season is special. So special in fact, that the Hornets have only accomplished this feat once in the team's history. 50 years ago, the 1958-1959 Hornets led by Head Coach Bill Johnson went 5-0-1 for Wellsboro's only undefeted season.
Hornets Cruise Past Sayre
September 27, 2008 Ed WeaverThe Wellsboro Hornets improved their 2008 season record to 4-1 after defeating the Sayre Redskins 54-6 Friday night, September 26. Wellsboro was led on the ground by Senior Fullback Pat Driebelbies, who rushed for over 150 yards. Senior Quarterback Cameron Jones and Senior Receiver Garrett Stager were also stellar on the night. Jones and Stager connected twice in the first half for two touchdowns.
Hornets to Visit Green Home

J.V. Hornets fall to Wyalusing
September 23, 2008 Ed WeaverThe Wellsboro J.V. team traveled to Wyalusing to take on the Rams for a rematch of Friday night. After allowing a short Wyalusing touchdown run, the Hornets bouced back and put a drive together and marched roughly 60 yards to the end zone before Sophomore Quarterback Nick Saniga found Sophomore Receiver Ethan Callahan wide open in the back of the end zone. The extra point was no good, and Wellsboro trailed the Rams for the rest of the first half 7-6.

Records Update
September 22, 2008 Ed WeaverThe history books have been re-written once again this season*. Senior Running Back Jake Coolidge nows sits second all-time for his defensive performance against Wyalusing. Coolidge intercepted two passes for 100 combined yards, one of them being returned 80 yards for a touchdown.

Week 4 NTL Update
September 21, 2008 Ed WeaverAfter the fourth week of the 2008 season, the Canton Warriors are the only undefeated team in the league. Canton knocked off Towanda 33-28 to go to 4-0 on the year, while Towanda dropped to 3-1. With the loss, Towanda is now tied for first place in the Large School Division with Wellsboro, with records of 3-1 and 2-0 in the league.
Hornets Shutout Rams
September 20, 2008 Ed WeaverThe Wellsboro Hornets improved their 2008 season record to 3-1 with a 54-0 shutout over Wyalusing. After a slow start in the first quarter, Jake Coolidge put the Hornets on the board first with an 80 yard interception return.

Hornets fall to Lewisburg
September 13, 2008 Ed WeaverIn what had all the makings of a good old fashioned slugfest, the Wellsboro Hornets fell to the Lewisburg Green Dragons 34-7 in front of the home crowd. The Wellsboro defense came ready to play as the game was held scoreless until late in the second quarter, but turnovers would eventually kill the Hornets.
