Dates for this summer's plyometric workouts have just been announced. Coach Singer will be doing workouts Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting June 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Coach DeLeonardis will also be doing a workout session starting on June 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The date for the 2008 District IV All-Star game has just been announced. This year's game will be played at South Williamsport's Rodney K. Morgans stadium on Friday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. A $5.00 donation for adults and a $3.00 donation for students will be required to get in to the game.

All money raised from website advertising will be used by the Wellsboro Gridders Club to help send the team to the annual Lycoming College camp, help with equipment purchases, and the end of the year banquet.

The Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club held their annual banquet last night in the Wellsboro High School Gym. The banquet recognizes not only senior athletes and their accomplishments, but accomplishments by all athletes throughout the entire school year. Throughout the course of the night, the Booster Club and Athletic Director Sherri Prough recognized teams, coaches, captains, coaches' award recipients, and outstanding player award recipients from every sport.

The Wellsboro Athletic Department is changing how student sport physicals will be conducted. Beginning this year, students will only be required to take one physical for the entire year, no matter how many sports the student plans on participating in.

Alumni weekend is just around the corner, and as a reminder, athletes planning on playing during the 2008 season are encouraged to help setup tables and chairs for the annual Alumni Banquet on Friday, May 23 at the High School.

The Wellsboro Gridders Club and members of the 2008 Hornet football team will be selling calendars to kick off its fundraising campaign. Calendars can be purchased for $10.00 each, and all proceeds will go towards the purchase of new equipment travel bags for players in grades 7-12.

The Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club will be hosting the annual Sports Award Ceremony and Banquet on May 27 at 6:00 p.m. This special dress-up occasion will be held in the High School gym. Introduction of senior athletes will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the presentation of the sports awards. Reservations for this event must be made no later than Friday, May 16.

The date for the 2008 District IV Prospect Camp has just been announced. The event will take place on May 28 at Montoursville High School. All current Sophomores and Juniors are eligible to attend. Those attending will need to meet in the parking lot at 3:45 to leave as a team. Parents will be needed to help carpool down.

Assistant Varsity Coaches Ed Weaver and Matt Hildebrand have been invited to coach at Penn State's annual summer football camps. Both Coach Weaver and Coach Hildebrand will be attending the first summer session from June 15 to June 18. For more information about the camp, please click here.

The weight room has finally moved into the old High School cafeteria. Hours will remain the same. Thank you to all of those who helped with the move.

The weight room will be closed this Friday, April 18 until Monday, April 21 as students begin cleaning and preparing to move into the new facility. All players are encouraged to volunteer to help in the move. Please check back on Tuesday, April 22 for progress updates.

The Gridders Club will be holding a chicken and biscuit dinner on Wednesday, April 2 at the Wellsboro Moose to start raising money for the 2008 football season. The dinner will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.50 for Senior Citizens and children 12 and under. Please come out and support the program!

Sign ups for the 2008 season will take place March 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the gym. Everyone interested in playing should plan to attend.
