Wellsboro and Troy met head on Saturday afternoon and at the end of 48 minutes of action the score was 7-7.

Troy scored in the closing seconds of the first quarter with Woodward going around his own right end from nine yards out. Lepkowski plunged over for the extra point and it was Troy 7, Wellsboro 0.

The Hornets came back with the equalizer after Gordon Seamans recovered Woodward's fumble on the Troy 35-yard line. Aided by a 15 yard clipping penalty, Wellsboro had a first down on the Troy 15-yard line. Tim Kerns lost a yard and on the next play Seamans went to the 10-yard line. Then on the end around play, Freeman Smith carried to the one-yard line where Mike Burns on the quarterback sneak went into the end zone for the score. Bob Morrow's kick placement was good and the score was tied at 7-7.

Neither team could score in the second half and the biggest threat from the Hornets came when they missed a first down by an inch on the Troy 15-yard line in the third quarter. Troy took over on the fourth down play and the rest of the game was played between the 30-yard markers.

Wellsboro travels to Athens Saturday afternoon to meet the once-beaten valley eleven. Kickoff time is 2:00 p.m.
