Athens tops Green Hornets, 9-6.

Athens chalked up its third win of the season here Saturday, defeating Wellsboro 9-6 in a non-league encounter.

The losers opened the scoring in the second period, tallying after a long drive which included several pass plays.

The Bulldogs bounced back in the same period, Bill Cron scoring on a 40 yard run. Larry Frisbie kicked the extra point and Athens held a 7-6 advantage.

Late in the fourth quarter, a Wellsboro back was tackled in his own end zone by a host ot Athens players resulting in a safety. Athens now owns a 3-2-1 record. It was the fourth loss tor Wellsboro in five contests.

This Saturday, the Wellsboro Green Hornets will play Bath on the local field.
