Green Hornets lose to Towanda.
Towanda scored a touchdown in each quarter here Saturday, downing Wellsboro 28-19 in a non-Ieague scholastic football game.
Wellsboro jumped into a 6-0 lead in the first period, a 35 yard pass from Pete Metarko to Jim Frey doing the trick.
Towanda shot ahead 7-6 in the same period as Tom Palumbo threw a 37 yard strike to Dave Kinsman for the touchdown. Howard Place ran in for the extra point.
Frey intercepted a pass and ran 97 yards for a Wellsboro score in the second period, but Towanda went ahead 14-12 on a Palumbo to Kinsman 30 yard pass and Place's extra point run.
Palumbo's sneak from the one and a Palumbo to Don Smith pass made it 21-12 in the third period. Palumbo threw another 30 yarder to Kinsman in the fourth quarter, throwing to Thomas for the extra point.
Wellsboro ended the scoring in the fourth period as Dale Tombs connected with Frey on a 12 yard pass play. Bill Leonard dove for the extra point.
