Wyalusing swats Green Hornets, 13-0.
Wyalusmg's football squad, with halfback Ed Wertz taking charge, ran for 239 yards and two touchdowns to defeat the Wellsboro Green Hornets, 13-0.
The defeat could have been worse with the third Wyalusing touchdown called back on an illegal motion penalty and two other threats late in the game being quelled on fumbles when the Hornets recovered on their own eight and 20-yard lines.
Wertz topped the squads 80 yard drive when he scored the team's first touchdown on a 30 yard run in the second quarter. Just before the half Wertz scored again from five yards out for his second touchdown of the day. Wertz ran for the extra point.
Wyalusing's defense held the Hornets to only 88 total yards and the Hornets could only manage 38 yards on the ground. The Hornets did not pose a serious scoring threat and just couldn't muster any kind of an attack.
Wyalusing picked up 15 first downs against the Hornets six and the loss was number four for the Hornets against three wins.
The Hornets will play their last game of the season on the home field Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Canton as the opponents.
