Wellsboro Bows to Cowanesque Valley, 13-6.
Last Saturday the Wellsboro Hornets ventured to Cowanesque with the hope of ruining their opponents' homecoming. The Hornets' plan would have worked except the Cowanesque Valley Indians were not so cooperative as anticipated.
Wellsboro also hindered their own cause by committing numerous mistakes such as fumbling.
Cowanesque Valley's defense held Wellsboro to six points in the first half and stopped their many scoring attempts in the second half. The Hornet defense definitely didn't play their best game: allowing the Indians a total of thirteen points, but it wasn't their worst game either. They intercepted passes and recovered Indian fumbles.
Both teams' offenses played sloppily, permitting many turnovers. Linford Jones scored Wellsboro's only touchdown, but the attempt for the extra point failed.
The final score was Wellsboro 6, Cowanesque Valley 13. The Hornets now hold a 3-4 record. Their next game will be played Friday night at Bolivar.
