Wellsboro Defeats Wyalusing, 26-0.
Saturday afternoon the Wellsboro Hornets defeated Wyalusing by a score of 26-0 on the Hornets' field. This was the fifth annual homecoming game which turned out to be a great success for the Hornets.
Wellsboro's offense showed much improvement as they overpowered the Ram's defense for four touchdowns. Blaine Antoine passed to Jim Carson for 10 yards giving Wellsboro an early lead which they maintained throughout the entire game.
Kurbin Dochstader had the longest run of the day, 58 yards to paydirt. Other touchdowns were made by Tom Young, in the second quarter, and Linford Jones in the fourth quarter. The offense amassed a total of 212 yards rushing and 66 yards passing.
Damon Spink was Wellsboro's defensive player of the week as he led the team with tackles. Close seconds were Brian Luke with 12 tackles and Mike Buck and Harry Jones, each with nine. The defense, like the offense, played an outstanding game.
Wellsboro's next game is Saturday at Cowanesque Valley.
