The Wellsboro Green Hornets' record fell to 3-5 with one game left in the season after being defeated by North Penn 20-10 Saturday afternoon.
The Morton Jones Memorial Trophy was presented to the Panthers following their victory. Previously, Wellsboro had received this annual trophy since it was awarded in 1970.
North Penn received the opening kickoff and used up nine minutes in a touchdown drive. Quarterback Dennis Bogaczyk passed to Kurzejewski to give Panthers a quick 6-0 lead.
The other Panther touchdowns were also in the first half. A Bogaczyk pass to Kurzejewski added another six points, and later a three yard run by Bogaczyk with the two-point conversion, a pass to Sobocinski, were also good.
Although North Penn held a 20-0 halftime lead, Wellsboro gave them some trouble during the second half.
The Hornets tackled North Penn field general Dutch Bogaczyk in the end zone for a safety.
In the fourth quarter, Jeff Coolidge scrambled three yards to paydirt and then passed to Hornet Tim Smith for the two-point conversion. The Panthers, howerever, withstood two other Wellsboro rallies to clinch a victory, 20-10.
The Hornets next game is Friday night on their home field against Towanda.
