The Mark McMillan Show shuts out Hornets, 37-0.
| presented by: |
Corning East's sensational back Mark McMillan ran for 157 yards on only 8 carries to power Corning East to a 37-0 romp over the Wellsboro Green Hornets Friday night in Corning.
McMillan and company totally dominated the contest rolling up 330 total yards against only 55 for the Hornets.
Joe Parillo opened the Corning East scoring scooting 65 yards to paydirt in the first period. Shortly thereafter, McMillan rambled 71 yards for the Vikes' second score of the opening period. The only thing Corning East was missing were two-point conversion attempts as they led 12-0 after one quarter.
In the second stanza, McMillan ran 17 yards to score on a one play drive, following a Hornet fumble. At the end of the period, Corning East went 21 yards on two plays, a pass from quarterback Shawn Joris to John Kotlinski covering the distance. The Vikes still could not convert extra points, this time missing two kicks.
The Vikings' fifth scoring drive lasted three plays with McMillan running 54 yards for the touchdown. This time the kick was successful and Corning East enjoyed a 31-0 advantage.
The final score was a pass play from Grimaldi to Verdier covering eight yards.
The Hornets couldn't generate an offense even though quarterback Doug Keck hit on 7-of-12 passes. They were good for only 17 total yards.
The 0-3 Hornets next game is Homecoming on Saturday night, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. vs. Canton.
