Bob McAlister ran for 333 yards to pace Jersey Shore to a 21-6 verdict over Wellsboro Saturday.
McAlister finished the season with 2,111 yards rushing. It was the Hornets final game of the season as they ended with a 4-6 overall record. Jersey Shore finished 8-3.
The Bulldogs scored first on a 17 yard run by McAlister midway through the opening period. Brian Bulatao setup the touchdown by intercepting a Hornet pass and returning it to the Hornet 28-yard line.
Following the Jersey Shore kickoff, Wellsboro was unable to move the ball and was forced into a punting situation deep in their own territory. The attempted punt was blocked by Todd Gibson who then scooped up the ball and ran five yards for another touchdown. Eric Feerar added both extra points and Jersey Shore led 14-0.
After a scoreless second stanza the Bulldogs upped their margin to 21-0 late in the third quarter with McAlister going the final four yards to paydirt. That run completed a methodical 14 play, 88 yard drive.
Wellsboro dented the scoreboard in the final quarter on a one yard quarterback keeper by Doug Keck. The touchdown came six plays after the Hornets recovered a Bulldog fumble on the Jersey Shore 40-yard line, Shore fumbled six times on the afternoon losing four of the loose balls.
McAlister's 333 rushing yards broke his school's single game record of 295 yards set 18 years ago. He also finished his career with 3,547 yards rushing.
