Loyalsock tailback Bob Wright rushed for 117 yards and scored two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to lead the Lancers to a 30-6 victory over Wellsboro Friday night at Loyalsock.

Wright opened the scoring in the first period when he capped a 95 yard touchdown march with a 47 yard burst over right tackle. The play prior to the scoring run was also a big one, with quarterback Tim Miller hitting fullback Brian Cain on a 37 yard pass completion. The two-point conversion attempt failed.

The Lancers broke the game open in the second period with a 16 point outburst. Early in the quarter, the Hornets had penetrated to the Lancer 26-yard line before losing the ball on downs. Eight plays later Todd Miller got behind the Hornet secondary and hauled in a 37 yard scoring strike from his twin brother. Tim Wright added the two-point conversion.

After the Loyalsock kickoff Wellsboro was stopped and lined up to punt on fourth down. Cam caught the kick on his own 39-yard line and dashed 61 yards for the second Lancer score of the period. Wright again rushed for the two-point conversion and the Hornets were down 22-0 at the half.

In the third stanza, Todd Miller broke through the Hornet offensive line and blocked a punt which the Lancers recovered on the Wellsboro 11-yard line. Following a play which netted no gain, Wright took a pitch out from Miller, swept left, fumbled, recovered and ran 11 yards for a score. This time the two-point conversion failed as Doug Keck intercepted a Miller pass attempt.

The final Loyalsock score came with just under 10 minutes left in the contest as Freddie Lee sacked Hornet quarterback Keck in the end zone for a safety.

Wellsboro avoided a shutout when fullback John Reese took a Keck pass 75 yards for a score with five and a half minutes to play. He hauled in the pass around the mid-field stripe and out ran the Lancer pursuit for the touchdown.

Reese's rushing attempt for the two-point conversion failed and the game ended 30-6.
