Chip Babcock scored two touchdowns to lead Wyalusing to a 21-6 verdict over Wellsboro Friday night. The loss ruined the 0-4 Hornets' home opener. Wyalusing improved its overall mark to 3-2.
Babcock tallied the first score of the evening. With just under five minutes left to play in the opening period. His four yard run culminated a six play, 50 yard drive. The extra point attempt was good and Wyalusing led, 7-0.
Early in the second stanza, quarterback Jim Huffman scampered 10 yards to put the Rams up 13-0. With six minutes left in the half, the Hornets scored their only touchdown of the night on a 14 yard scoring jaunt by halfback Scott Cloos. The two-point conversion attempt failed. Wyalusing led at the half, 13-6.
The third period was scoreless.
Wyalusing put the final points of the night on the scoreboard in the last quarter on Babcock's three yard run, his second touchdown. The big ground gainer of the evening was the Rams' Wes Millard who gained 85 yards on 17 carries, including a key 10 yard romp on Wyalusing's final touchdown march.
Cloos led the Hornets with 62 yards on 14 tries.
