The Wellsboro Green Hornet football team looked as though they might come away with their first victory of the young season at home against Canton on Saturday afternoon.
Hornet comeback topples Cowanesque Valley, 36-14.
The Wellsboro Hornet football team spotted the Cowanesque Valley Indians a 14-0 lead early in the game, but rallied to defeat the hosts 36-14 on Saturday afternoon. The victory raises Wellsboro's slate to 1-3 on the year.
Hornets upend Towanda, 27-26, in Homecoming tilt.
The Wellsboro Hornets capped Homecoming festivities this weekend with a scrambling 27-26 win over visiting Towanda. The win puts Wellsboro's record at 2-3 overall and 1-3 in NTL play. Towanda is 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Wyalusing whips Wellsboro, 40-8.
The Wyalusing Rams used the running of tailback Tony Crawford to defeat Wellsboro's Green Hornet football team 40-8 Friday night at Wyalusing. The loss drops Wellsboro's season slate to 2-4.
Notre Dame's ground attack stings Wellsboro, 48-18.
The Notre Dame Crusaders used a powerful rushing game and, combined with six Wellsboro turnovers, defeated the Hornets 48-18 in Elmira on Saturday.
Hornet offense buries North Penn Panthers, 49-0.
Wellsboro Hornet quarterback Todd Coolidge hit on 10-of-14 passes for 174 yards and four touchdowns to lead a 49-0 romp over host North Penn on Saturday afternoon. The win raises Wellsboro's season slate to 3-5 (1-4 in NTL play), with one game remaining.
Northrup to Clarke dooms Hornets, 7-0.
An 11 yard touchdown pass from quarterback John Northrup to tailback John Clarke late in the first half propelled Athens to a 7-0 win over host Wellsboro in the season finale for both squads.
