Wyalusing Hands Hornets Seventh Loss, 33-0.

The Wyalusing Rams erupted for three touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 33-0 win over the Wellsboro Hornets Friday night at Wyalusing.
The win improved the Rams' record to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in Twin Tiers League play Wellsboro falls to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the TTL.
A Ray Oswald one yard run on the Rams' first possession, and Greg Parsons' extra point put Wyalusing on top 7-0. On their next series, Ram quarterback Wade Pickett hit Dale Bennett on a 12 yard scoring strike to increase the Wyalusing lead to 13-0. A Sam Bocchino one yard dive made the score 20-0 entering the second period.
After a scoreless second quarter, the Rams increased their lead to 27-0 on an early third period touchdown run by Oswald covering 14 yards. Larry Edwards' four yard scoring jaunt in the fourth stanza made the final count 33-0.
Oswald finished the night with 92 yards on only nine carries.
The Hornets' running game was paced by sophomore tailback Tim Driebelbies who rushed for 66 yards on 18 carries. Bob Bowers was Wellsboro's leading receiver, hauling in three Tom Reese passes for 21 yards. Gary Cooper led the defense with 15 tackles.
Hornet coach Jeff Strohl summed the game up this way, "After the first quarter, we settled down and played well. The defense began to hold the Ram offense with our linebackers playing real well against their belly option."
Bowers, in addition to his three offensive receptions, added two interceptions. Matt Mitchell recorded six tackles, one sack, and a fumble recovery from his rover position. On the offensive line, Cooper, Dan Reese, and Bill Gee (in his first varsity start) all had good games.
The cheerleaders' player of the week was Gary Cooper.
The Hornet JV's lost a tough 16-8 decision to Wyalusing Saturday. The loss was the Hornets third in a row, all by a margin of eight points or less. Perry Prough's 17 yard run accounted for Wellsboro's lone touchdown. The Hornet JV's are now 2-4 on the year.
