Wyalusing got two touchdowns a piece from Larry Edwards and Sam Bocchino to lead the Rams to a 25-20 Northern Tier League football win over host Wellsboro Friday night.

The loss drops Wellsboro to 4-5 overall, 1-5 in NTL play.

After a scoreless first quarter, Wyalusing took a 6-0 lead on a two yard run by Edwards. The Hornets rallied to take their only lead of the night when quarterback Perry Prough hit Karl Hider with an 11 yard touchdown pass. Marty Henneman's point after put Wellsboro on top 7-6.

The Rams went ahead to stay late in the second period on Edwards' second touchdown run, this one a one yarder.

Bocehino's 30 yard touchdown run stretched the Wyalusing lead to 18-7 in the third stanza.

On the ensuing kickoff, however, the Hornets cut the lead to 18-13 when Tim Driebelbies returned the kick 91 yards for a touchdown.

Bocchino countered with a 46 yard scoring run on Wyalusing's next possession to put the Rams ahead, 25-13. Herb Frank's 14 yard touchdown run late in the final period closed out the scoring.

'Turnovers made the difference," said Jeff Strohl, Hornet head coach. "We turned the ball over seven times, four fumbles and three interceptions, several of the turnovers killing scoring drives inside the Wyalusing 15-yard line."

"Chuck Coolidge played an excellent game for us from his center position," Strohl added. "He had several key blocks at the point of attack which allowed our backs to break into the secondary."

Driebelbies was Wellsboro's leading ground gainer, netting 95 yards on 13 carries, along with his 91 yard kickoff return.

Bob Bowers caught three passes for 31 yards while Hider hauled in two for 45 yards and a touchdown. John Hopkins led the defense with 14 tackles.

The Hornets 1984 season finale will be played this Saturday at Athens. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
