The Canton Warriors rallied for two second half touchdowns to nip Wellsboro 15-14 in a Northern Tier League football game at Wellsboro Friday night.

The Hornets took a 14-0 lead in the first half on two Perry Prough to Bob Bowers touchdown passes. In the first period, Prough hit Bowers on a 22 yard scoring strike and in the second quarter the same duo hooked up on an eight yard touchdown pass play. Marty Henneman booted both extra points.

The Warrior rally began in the third stanza when quarterback Steve Mosser scored on a one yard keeper. Mosser then hit Matt Buck with a successful two-point conversion pass.

The winning score came in the fourth period following a Canton fumble recovery at the Hornets' 34-yard line. Two plays later, Mosser found David Wilcox on a 33 yard touchdown pass. Chris Gerould added the extra point to provide the victory margin.

For the Hornets, George Dempsey was the leading rusher as he finished with 40 yards on 11 carries. Bowers was leading receiver with six catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Prough ended the night with eight completions on 21 attempts with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Tim Driebelbies led the defense with nine tackles.
