Hornets top Wellsville, 30-6.

A four touchdown second quarter lifted the Wellsboro Hornet football team to a 30-6 win over visiting Wellsville Friday night. The win improves Wellsboro's record to 2-1 on the season (0-1 in the Northern Tier League).

Tailback Tim Driebelbies and quarterback Eric Olshevski combined for 350 rushing yards on 28 carries. Driebelbies ran for 181 yards on 17 tries while Olshevski rushed for 169 yards on 11 attempts.

Driebelbies has run for 438 yards on 61 carries so far this season for a 7.2 yards per rush average. Both Driebelbies and Olshevski scored two touchdowns.

The Hornets scored first on an 11 touchdown run by Driebelbies in the opening stanza. Driebelbies' five yard run put Wellsboro on top 12-0 early in the second quarter. Olshevski then hit Rick Layton with a 29 yard scoring pass, and ran 29 yards for another score to increase the Hornet lead to 24-0.

Tyrone McGay completed the Wellsboro scoring by running in from 14 yards out just before halftime.

Wellsville scored the only points of the second half on a one yard touchdown run by quarterback Chris Moyer in the third quarter.

The Hornets host Troy this Friday evening. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
