The Wellsboro Green Hornet football team erupted for 13 third quarter points to top host North Penn 13-0 in a non league contest Saturday at Blossburg. The Hornets are now 4-4 overall, 1-4 in Northern Tier League action. North Penn drops to 2-6 on the year.

After a scoreless first half, Wellsboro scored on their first possession of the third quarter. The 58 yard, seven play drive was capped by a three yard touchdown pass from Eric Olshevski to Kevin Cavanaugh. Quarterback Olshevski also turned in a 20 yard run on the march.

Following a fumble recovery by the Hornets later in the third period, tailback Tim Driebelbies ran in from six yards out to stretch Wellsboro's advantage to 13-0 The fourth quarter was scoreless.

North Penn was able to move the ball effectively throughout the contest outgaming the Hornets 272 yards to 162. But the Panthers couldn't crack the end zone, as turnovers or a stiffening Wellsboro defense always stalled their scoring threats.

Mike Ford of North Penn had a super afternoon, hauling in nine passes for 139 yards.

Driebelbies rushed for 75 of Wellsboro's 109 total yards on the ground. He has now gained 877 yards on 165 carries.

Wellsboro travels to Wyalusing to take on the Rams on Friday night, October 25. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. North Penn is idle, but travels to East Juniata for their season finale on Saturday evening, November 2 at 7:30 p.m.
