The Troy Trojans utilized superior team speed in downing the Wellsboro Green Hornet football team 28-6 Friday night at Wellsboro.
Tyrone Binford scored two touchdowns for Troy, one on a 30 yard run in the first quarter and one on an 84 yard kickoff return to open the second half.
The Hornets did take an early 6-0 lead when they marched down the field with the opening kickoff and scored on a 27 yard scoring run by quarterback Eric Olshevski.
Binford and Paul Zaffarese then scored on 30 and 55 yard touchdown runs respectively to put Troy ahead to stay 14-6 after one period of play.
Binford's kickoff return and a 10 yard touchdown run by Morgan White were the Trojans' two second half scores.
Tim Driebelbies was Wellsboro's main offensive threat, rushing for 106 yards on 24 carries. Driebelbies, the Northern Tier League rushing leader, has run for 544 yards on 85 attempts through four games. He is averaging a fine 6.4 yards per tote.
Wellsboro's record now stands at 2-2 for the season, 0-2 in NTL play Troy is currently 3-0.
This Friday night, September 27, the Hornets host the Towanda Black Knights in their 1985 homecoming tilt. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
