The Wellsboro Hornet football team got by Cowanesque Valley 18-13 Friday night in the non-league opener for both squads at Wellsboro High School.

The Wellsboro Hornet football team used a tough defense and a pair of Philip Prough touchdown catches to down Wyalusing 12-0 Friday night at Wellsboro. The win improves Wellsboro's record to 2-0, 1-0 in league play. Wyalusing drops to 0-2.
Hornet big plays down Montrose.
The Wellsboro Hornet football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a thrilling come from behind 28-22 win over the Montrose Meteors Saturday afternoon at Montrose.
Troy topples Hornets, 24-7.
The Troy Trojans used a big play passing offense and combined that with four-interceptions of Wellsboro aerials to post a 24-7 homecoming football win over the Hornets Friday night. Troy, improves to 2-1 overall (1-0 in Twin Tiers League play). Wellsboro tasted defeat for the first time this season, dropping to 3-1 overall (2-1 in the TTL).
Towanda rips Wellsboro, 34-0.
The Towanda Black Knight football team continued to dominate all opponents this year as they improved to 5-0 Friday night, downing visiting Wellsboro 34-0. Towanda has shut out four of five teams thus far, allowing only six points in their game with Sayre.
Hornets romp 38-14; 3-2 in TTL play.
Homecoming festivities were rained out but the Wellsboro offense really poured it on to post a 38-14 football win versus visiting Canton Friday night. The victory improves the Hornets overall record to 4-2, 3-2 in Twin Tiers League play. The Warriors fell to 2-4 overall, 1-3 in TTL action.
Bulldogs top Wellsboro, 19-0.
Chris Lynch caught two second quarter touchdown passes from quarterback Matt Hutz to lead Athens to a 19-0 shutout over visiting Wellsboro Saturday. The game capped homecoming festivities at Athens.
Hornets top Panthers, 32-8.
The Wellsboro Hornet football team improved its season record to 5-3 with a 32-8 homecoming win over North Penn Friday night. The loss drops the Panthers to 2-6.
Wellsboro falls to Sayre, 14-11.
One yard touchdown runs by Tony West and Pat Esposito were the difference Friday night as the Sayre Redskins defeated Wellsboro 14-11 in a see-saw battle at Wellsboro.
Waverly downs Wellsboro, 8-6.
Waverly scored a touchdown in the first quarter and made it stand up as the Wolverines downed visiting Wellsboro 8-6 Friday night. The Hornets finish the season 5-5 overall, 3-5 in Twin Tiers League play.
Line Mountain ends Wellsboro's season, 32-0.
Line Mountain amassed 388 yards in total offense Friday night en route to a 32-0 football win over Wellsboro at Shikellamy High School in Sunbury. The loss eliminated the 5-6 Hornets from PIAA District 4 AA playoff action.
