Towanda tops Hornets, 38-0.

The Towanda Black Knights turned Chris Jennings loose at Wellsboro Friday night. The senior running back rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns as Towanda downed Wellsboro, 38-0, in a Northern Tier League football game.

The loss drops Wellsboro to 0-6 in NTL play and 1-8 overall. Towanda is 5-4 overall, 2-4 in NTL play.

Jennings' three touchdowns came on runs of nine, 53, and six yards. He carried 24 times, averaging almost 12 yards per tote.

The Black Knights scored in the first period on a one yard run by quarterback Jeff Mahalik, then broke the game open with 19 second quarter points. Jennings scored twice and Mahalik hit Mark Gannon on a 13 yard touchdown pass.

Jennings added his third touchdown with a six yard third period run, and Jesse Funk closed out the scoring with a nine yarder hi the final stanza.

Towanda rushed for 382 yards on the night, and their defense created six Hornet turnovers. Jason Kennedy led Wellsboro ground gainers with 50 yards on 13 carries.

Wellsboro closes out their season this Friday evening, November 6, a Parents' Night contest versus Athens at Wellsboro.
