The Horseheads (NY) Blue Raider football team amassed 328 rushing yards on 55 carries en route to a 47-0 win over visiting Wellsboro Saturday afternoon.
Horseheads struck early and often, scoring three touchdowns inthe opening stanza and adding two more by halftime to take a 33-0 lead.
Bert Conklin scored first on a 23 yard run early in the first quarter. Sonny Barton added an 11 yard touchdown scamper, and Bub Kennedy recovered a fumble in the end zone as the Blue Raiders raced to a 21-0 lead.
Jim Janeski and Don Osborn scored from one yard and eight yards respectively in the second quarter as Horseheads continued to pull away.
Janeski scored from four yards out in the third quarter, and Osborn's three yard carry in the final period closed out the scoring.
Wellsboro was held to 58 yards passing and 38 yards via the ground.
It was the Hornets' first loss of the year, following wins versus Cowanesque Valley and Athens. This Friday night, Wellsboro travels to Troy for an 8:00 p.m. game.
