The Bald Eagle Nittany football team scored on their first possession of the game, then made the points stand up, as Wellsboro fell to the hosts 7-0 at Mill Hall Saturday.
The non-league loss drops the Hornets' overall record to 3-3, 2-2 in Northern Tier League play. Bald Eagle Nittany is also 3-3.
Panther running back Dave Giimore capped a 13 play, 68 yard drive with a one yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. Ron Yeich booted the extra point to end the scoring.
The Hornets were not without scoring opportunities of their own, however, but never crossed the goal line. In the third quarter, Wellsboro drove to the Panther 21-yard line, but a fumble thwarted that threat.
The Hornets continued to move the ball in the final stanza, but were stopped twice deep in Panther territory, once on downs and once on an interception.
Bald Eagle Nittany's Tim Walker led all ground gainers with 107 yards on 21 carries. He also caught the Panthers' lone pass completion for 13 yards.
Jason Kennedy topped Hornet rushers with 60 yards on 20 attempts. Quarterback Jeff Zuchowski added 53 yards on eight totes.
This Saturday evening, October 14, Wellsboro travels to Columbia Montour Vo-Tech for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
