Wellsboro drops season finale to Towanda, 40-12.

Rick Robinson turned in Wellsboro's finest rushing performance of the season but it wasn't enough as the Towanda Black Knights downed the Hornets 48-12 at Towanda Friday night.
The Northern Tier League loss puts Wellsboro's final 1990 record at 1-9 overall and 0-6 in NTL play. Towanda is currently 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the NTL with a game against Wyalusing coming up this weekend.
Robinson finished the night with 130 yards rushing on only nine carries, and scored both of Wellsboro's touchdowns on runs of 62 and 19 yards. He was the lone Wellsboro runner to reach the 100 yard rushing mark for a game on the year.
Robinson's 62 yard touchdown came late in the first quarter to cut Towanda's lead to 14-6. His 19 yarder came in the third period.
Clay Charlesworth had a big game for the Black Knights. Charlesworth rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries and added a pair of touchdowns on two punt returns (52 and 56 yards).
After Robinson's first quarter touchdown run had cut the Towanda lead to eight, the Black Knights responded by scoring the next 20 points to lead comfortably, 34-6, midway though the third stanza.
Robinson's second score made it 34-12, but a pair of Towanda fourth quarter touchdowns made the final count 48-12.
Neil Bogaczyk backed Robinson's efforts, gaining 32 yards on 10 carries. Hornet quarterback Jon Cox ran for 24 yards on 11 tries, while Chris Morral had 23 yards on only four attempts.
Cox completed four of 15 passes, half of them going to Ken Nowak for 33 yards. Josh Ziemak and Bogaczyk hauled in the other two.
