Raffin to Patterson, Raffin to Patterson, Raffin to Patterson. Three completions, 144 yards, three touchdowns, and Wyalusing's first football win of the 1990 season, a 40-7 thumping of homestanding Wellsboro Friday night, September 14.

Ram quarterback Karl Raffin hit wide receiver John Patterson with only three completions on the night. The duo made the most of the catches, though scoring three touchdowns and accounting for 144 of Wyalusing s 170 passing yards.

The Rams also hammered out 251 yards on the ground, including an 11 carry, 149 yard night for tailback Clay McCarty. He also scored one of Wyalusing's six touchdowns, an 18 yard fourth quarter jaunt.

Wellsboro scored their first points in three games on a 15 yard Keith Cavanaugh run early in the final period. Aaron Short kicked the extra point.

Wyalusing completely dominated the game outgaining Wellsboro 421 total yards to 139. In addition the Rams turned the ball over only once on an interception.

Don Stoddard began a 20 point Wyalusing first quarter onslaught when he scored on a two yard run.

The Rams second score came on a 54 yard Raffin to Patterson aerial and the third touchdown of the period was the result of a Raffin one touchdown plunge.

Raffin to Patterson for 74 yards in the second stanza put Wyalusing on top 26-0 at the interimssion.

The third quarter's lone score came on the last Raffin to Patterson pass, this one a 16 yarder. Cavanaugh and McCarty closed out the scoring in the fourth stanza.

Cavanaugh finished as Wellsboro's top ground gainer with 59 yards on 11 carries. Rick Robinson was next with 38 yards on 15 attempts.

Ken Nowak caught two of quarterback Jon Cox's four completions for 29 yards. Cavanaugh caught one for 12 yards and Ryan Rieppel added one for 11 yards.

The Hornets host North Penn this Friday night, September 21. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
