Morral leads Hornets over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech.

Chris Morral carried the ball 24 times for 239 yards as the Wellsboro Hornet football team capped a successful homecoming weekend with a 33-6 win over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Friday night, October 16.

Included on Morral's 24 rushes were four touchdowns, on runs of five, one, 12, and 23 yards respectively. His 239 total yards were a personal best.

The Hornets rushed for a total of 527 yards on the night on 54 carries for a 9.8 yards per carry average.

lan Carson also went over the 100 yard mark, gaining 133 yards on 11 carries, most of them coming the fourth quarter. He scored on a one yard blast for Wellsboro's last score.

Neil Bogaczyk came up a yard short of triple digits, carrying the ball 14 times for 99 yards. Wellsboro also played a turnover free game while the Hornet defense came up with a CMVT fumble.

The lone Columbia Montour Vo-Tech score came in the third quarterr on an 80 yard run by Earl Weaver. Weaver finished with 103 yards on eight totes. Kevin Carter added 93 yards on 16 carries.

There were only 10 passes attempted in the game. Wellsboro hit on two of eight throws, CMVT completed one of two.

The start of the game was delayed a half hour due to heavy rain.

Morral scored all 18 of Wellsboro's first half points, going in from six yards and one yard out in the first quarter, then adding a 12 yard run in the second stanza.

After Weaver's 80 yard scoring run for the visitors had cut the Hornet edge to 18-6 early in the third period, Morral scored his fourth touchdown on a 23 yard run.

Back-up quarterback Chad Watters hit Bogaczyk with a successful two point conversion pass to put the Hornets on top 26-6.

Carson's fourth quarter touchdown and an extra point boot by Ché Regina made the final score 33-6. It was the second consecutive win for Wellsboro, as they improved to 3-4 on the season.

This week, the Hornets travel to Renovo to face the Bucktail Bucks. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday night, October 23.
