A 34 yard Donnie White to Craig York touchdown pass late in the third quarter propelled Troy to a 7-0 Northern Tier League football win over visiting Wellsboro on Friday night, September 11.
The key play prior to the touchdown pass was a 29 yard completion on a third and seven play from White to Shane Morgan.
Wellsboro played a solid game defensively, but had trouble moving the ball against a strong Trojan defense. The Hornets came up with six turnovers in the game, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
The offense however, was having its troubles moving the ball, netting only 29 yards on 30 carries. Hornet quarterback Jon Cox completed seven of 16 passes for 61 yards. He was intercepted twice.
Devin Montgomery caught three balls for 22 yards. Chris Morral's 24 yards topped all Wellsboro ground gainers.
The Hornets, 0-2 on the season, host Wyalusing, also 0-2 on Friday night, September 18 at 7:30 p.m.
