Wellsboro buries Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, 54-0.

The Wellsboro Hornet football team improved to 4-4 on the season following a 54-0 romp over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Saturday at Berwick.

The Hornets put this game away early, jumping out to leads of 21-0 after one period and 41-0 by halftime.

Wellsboro's ground game was in high gear as three Hornets accounted for 192 of their 229 total rushing yards. Chris Morral ran for 92 yards on seven carries, Ian Carson added 40 yards on four attempts and Erick Crawford exploded for 60 yards on only two tries. Overall, the Hornets averaged 8.8 yards per carry (26 rushes for 229 yards).

Neil Bogaczyk got Wellsboro off to a quick start, scoring the first two touchdowns on runs of 17 and 15 yards. Crawford's 43 yard jaunt late in the first quarter, coupled with Ché Regina's third extra point kick put the Hornets comfortably out in front, 21-0.

Morral picked up the slack in the second period, adding touchdowns runs of 21 and 15 yards. Steve Davis capped the first half scoring with an 18 yard scoring run.

The lead swelled to 48-0 in the fourth quarter on a 30 yard fumble recovery run for a touchdown by Ken Wright. Russ Manney's three yard touchdown run late in the game closed out the day's scoring.

Friday night, October 29, Wellsboro travels to Wyalusing for a 7:30 p.m. Northern Tier League contest versus the Rams.
