The Wellsboro Hornet defense held Wyalusing to only 106 yards of total offense and only four first downs en route to a 10-0 football win over the Rams at Wyalusing Fnday night, October 29.

The Rams, previously undefeated in Northern Tier League play, fell to 4-1 in the league and 5-3-1 overall. Wellsboro improved to 2-3 in league play and 4-4 overall. Defense and a solid running game were the keys to the Hornet win.

Chris Morral ran 11 times for 98 yards, Ian Carson added 51 yards on nine totes and Neil Bogaczyk carried eight times for 45 yards.

Ironically, the running game accounted for all but 16 of the Hornets' 214 yards of total offense, but a 12 yard pass from quarterback Chad Watters to Devin Montgomery accounted for the game's lone touchdown.

The first points of the game came just before halftime and was set up by a Max Gross pass interception. With eight seconds left in the second quarter, Hornet kicker Ché Regina booted a 34 yard field goal to put the visitors on top 3-0 In the third quarter Watters hit Montgomery with the touchdown strike and Regina's point after closed out the scoring.

Steve Davis' pass interception late in the fourth quarter preserved the Wellsboro shutout. Wellsboro hosts Towanda this Friday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hornets' final NTL game this season.

They close out their 1993 schedule with a home game versus Lewisburg on Friday night, November 12, also at 7:30 p m.
