Lake Lehman scored 21 second quarter points to down visiting Wellsboro 28-0 in the 1993 Football season opener for both teams.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the hosts erupted for three second period touchdowns to put the game away.

Mike Ruger scored first on a five yard run, then Tom Smigielski added touchdown jaunts of one and four yards. Will Woronko kicked all three extra points as Lake Lehman took a 21-0 halftime lead.

The only scoring ofthe second half came on Ernie Chamberlain's 24 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Black Knight defense turned in an impressive performance, holding the Hornets to 72 yards of total offense, 65 of that coming on the ground. Chris Morral rushed 13 times for 21 yards, Ian Carson added 18 yards on three carries, for Wellsboro.

Hornet quarterback Erick Crawford completed two of three passes for seven yards.

The game was turnover-free, with neither team throwing an interception or losing a fumble.

Lake Lehman quarterback John Oliver ran eight times for 67 yards and completed six of 11 throws for 73 more yards.

Next week, Wellsboro travels to Canton to open their Northern Tier League season against the Warriors. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
