Wellsboro tops Lewisburg, 15-6.

The Wellsboro Hornet football team jumped out to a 15-0 second quarter lead then let the defense take over in a 15-6 home win over Lewisburg Friday night.
The win concluded the Hornets' regular season. They finish with an overall record of 6-5 and a Northern Tier League slate of 2-4.
Wellsboro will square off against Wyalusing this Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Wyalusing in opening round PIAA Class AA District 4 playoff action. Towanda and Central Columbia play in the other opening round game at Central Columbia.
Tickets for the playoff game may be purchased at the Wellsboro High School office. Prices are $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for students. At the gate Friday, all tickets will be $3.00. A spectator bus for Middle School and Senior High students will be going to the game.
Chris Morral got the Hornets on the scoreboard first versus Lewisburg when he scored on a 78 yard touchdown run. Morral finished the night with 146 yards on 26 attempts. Erick Crawford's two point conversion run gave Wellsboro an 8-0 lead in the first quarter.
A 13 yard touchdown pass from Hornet quarterback Chad Watters to running back Neil Bogaczyk put the hosts on top 14-0. Ché Regina's extra point boot made it 15-0.
Lewisburg closed the gap and the sconng for the night late in the second period. A four yard Mark Eveleth to Chad Warren touchdown toss and a failed two-point conversion try ended the night's scoring.
Wellsboro finished the game with 173 rushing yards and 48 passing yards on six completions out of 13 tries.
