The Wellsboro Green Hornets suffered their third loss of the season falling to the ground attack of Wyalusing in a 41-0 shutout Friday, September 24.
Wyalusing struck first with 7:30 remaining in the first quarter on a 58 yard Adams scamper into the end zone. Adams struck again 11 seconds later on Wellsboro's possession by picking off a Jake Banik pass and racing to pay dirt for the 14-0 lead over the Green Hornets.
Wellsboro didn't have much success in the air during the game with Banik completing three of 13 passes for 45 yards. Of the three passes, two were to Dave Laczi for 24 yards and the third to Travis Pifer for 21 yards.
Wyalusing racking up 362 yards rushing on 38 carries, out distanced Wellsboro who rushed 31 times for 91 yards.
Wellsboro's leading rusher on the season with 228 yards rushing, Derek Harsch, had 19 yards rushing on 15 attempts. Jamie Palmer led the Green Hornets ground attack with 56 yards rushing on 11 attempts.
Wyalusing scored early in the second quarter with another. touchdown by Adams who took the hand off and bulled his way across the goal line from ten yards out to take a 21-0 lead.
With 4:23 remaining in the first half, Wyalusing put together another scoring drive capped off by a one yard dive over the line to hold a 26-0 first half lead.
Wyalusing didn't score again until the fourth quarter by going to the air on a 14 yard reception 22 seconds into the final frame and capped off the night with a 53 yard touchdown run.
Wellsboro (1-3) will host Towanda Friday night, October 1 in hopes of picking up their second league win. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
