Nine touchdowns separated Wellsboro from a win over Wyalusing.

The Rams proved why they are leading the Northern Tier League along with Towanda as Ken McCarty and Bill Wulff paced the Ram offense. Mccarty's 154 yards on six carries and two touchdowns was enough to deal the Green Hornets a loss.

McCarty initiated the overwhelming Wyalusing domination of the ball who took the handoff on the Ram's first series and raced 72 yards for a touchdown 16 seconds into the first quarter. The Rams took advantage of every opportunity to score and dominated both sides of the ball for the 62-0 blanking of Wellsboro.

"We laid a lot on the line," head coach Mike Pietropola said. "But the bottom line is that the kids just didn't get done what they needed to do. You can't take anything away from Wyalusing, they dominated us."

After holding Wellsboro on their first drive and forced the punt, Carl Worrell received the boot and took off on a 45 yard punt return for a touchdown less than two minutes after their first score. Both extra point field goals split the uprights and the Rams were battering their way to the win with a 14-0 lead.

The Rams battered their way down field for their third score of the quarter .when Ken McCarty capped off another Wyalusing drive with a 16 yard touchdown scamper. The extra point attempt failed and the Rams held a 20-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the first frame.

Wyalusing continued to dominate through the entire first half and secured a 34-0 halftime lead after Josh Dryder plowed in from four yards out two minutes into the second quarter.

Dustin Kenney fired the Rams only touchdown pass of the night midway through the frame when he connected with Ross Duffield for a 10 yard touchdown pass. Kenney followed with another completion on the two-point conversion.

Wellsboro ended another game with a frustrating performance on offense as Wyalusing swatted any Wellsboro progress on offense.

Not only did the defiant Ram defense hold Wellsboro to 68 yards rushing on 24 carries, they also held them to only five first downs while intercepting five passes.

It took the Wyalusing Rams six minutes to earn their first touchdown of the second half and quickly followed one minute later with their second.

Bill Wulff scored his only touchdown of the night when he took the handoff and broke for a 54 yard run. The Rams' extra point run gave them a 42-0 lead.

The Rams' second touchdown came on defense when Ross Muench picked off a Green Hornet pass and raced into the endzone from 30 yards out for the touchdown. The extra point kick failed and the Rams held a comfortable 48-0 lead. But the Rams offense couldn't be halted and quickly scored again in the final frame.

Gryder scored his second touchdown of the night one minute into the final frame with a 44 yard run. The extra point kick split the uprights for a 55-0 lead.

Tim Worrell gave Wyalusing their final score of the game with a five yard touchdown run. The extra point kick was good as the Rams took the league win.

Wellsboro travels to Troy Friday, October 27, to face the Trojans in another NTL match up.

"Our goal will be to stop the option," Pietropola said. "Troy is known for their option and we hope to read it well and know what to do to shut it down."
