The Wellsboro Hornets held the Jersey Shore Bulldogs to seven first half points in a game postponed from September 17 until September 20 at Thompson Street Stadium.

The Hornets were overpowered in the second half to lose 23- 6 as the Bulldogs scored 16 fourth quarter points. The Bulldogs had only scored a total of eight points in their two previous games, both of which were losses.

The Bulldogs allowed Hornets' quarterback Pat Coolidge to score the only points on a one-yard scamper in the third quarter. The score closed the gap to 7-6 but the Bulldogs' fourth quarter scoring barrage iced the game.

Both defenses were solid in the second and third quarters while the Bulldogs' defense was stout throughout the game.

The Bulldogs were led in rushing by senior tailback Don Erlston who rushed for 235 yards on 21 carries and accounted for all but 56 yards of Jersey Shore's offensive output. He scored two of the Bulldogs' three touchdowns on runs of one and 13 yards.

Jake Monks was the Hornets' leading rusher with 82 yards on four carries. Though Coolidge scored, on the one yard run, he had minus 16 yards rushing to go with his 30 passing yards.

For Jersey Shore, it was their first win of the season and improved their record to 1-2. For Wellsboro, it was their second loss to drop their record to 1-2.
