Hornets fall to Black Knights.

The Towanda Black Knights jumped out to a first quarter lead October 8 at Towanda and never trailed as they defeated the Wellsboro Hornets 34-6.
Towanda started off the first quarter by scoring with 9:10 remaining in the quarter on a six yard run by Kyle Cook and the point after kick by Victor Snyder. Both defenses settled down in the second quarter to put the clamps on the other teams' offense.
Two third quarter touchdowns by the Black Knights put the game out of reach. The Black Knights' Brad Lantz scored on a blast from three yards out with 3:66 remaining in the quarter to make the score 14-0 after the point after kick by Snyder was good. One minute and nine seconds later Lantz scored again, this time he intercepted Hornets' quarterback Pat Coolidge and returned it 39 yards for the touchdown. Snyder again made the extra point attempt and raised Towanda's lead to 21-0.
Coolidge rebounded with a 23 yard scoring toss to Ed Baxter for the Hornets' lone score. The point after kick was wide and the score became 21-6.
In the fourth quarter the Black Knights again scored on a run by Lantz. This time Lantz blasted in from five yards outwith 8:19 remaining in the quarter and Snyder again kicked the extra point to raise the score to 28-6. With 5:03 remaining in the game, the Black Knights' Jake Kapson blasted in from five yards out to close out the scoring.
"They just-wore us down and ran the ball down our throats in the second half," said assistant coach Todd Coolidge.
Leading rushers for the Hornets were Jeremy Walrath with 28 yards on eight carries, Shawn Tom with 46 yards on four carries, Jesse Tom with 32 yards on two carries, and Colie Stone three yards on one rush.
Leading rushers for the Black Knights were Jake Kapson with 120 yards on 17 carries, Brad Lantz with 92 yards on 14 carries, Scott Carter with 38 yards on 12 carries, Eric Potter with 30 yards on five carries, and Kyle Cook with 27 yards on five carries.
In the passing department, Hornets quarterback Pat Coolidge was five of 19 for 47 yards and one interception. Black Knight quarterback Kyle Cook was six for 11 for 78 yards and senior Scott Carter was one for five for 13 yards.
Wellsboro's Ed Baxter had only one catch, but it was the 23 yards touchdown reception for the Hornets. Colie Stone caught two passes for nine yards and Jeremy Walrath had a 15 yard reception.
The Black Knights receiving stats were Eric Potter with three catches for 41 yards, Robert Henderson with one catch for 31 yards, Brad Lantz with one catch for 40 yards, and Scott Carter with one catch for six yards.
The Hornets defensive leaders were Colie Stone with two solo tackles, 12 tackle assists, and one quarterback hurry; Willie Blackwell with three solo tackles, 11 tackle assists; Dontae Williams with one solo tackle and 12 tackle assists; Tim Shaw with one solo tackle, 11 tackle assists, and one pass break up; Dustin Harsch with one solo tackle and nine tackle assists; Shawn Tom with one solo tackle, six tackle assists, one interception; Kyle Borden with one solo tackle, five tackle assists, one interception; Ed Baxter with two solo tackles, four tackle assists, one pass break up; Pat Coolidge with five solo tackles, two tackle assists; Jeremy Walrath with two solo tackles, three tackle assists and one pass breakup; Marcus Pryzbien with one solo tackle, three tackle assists, one interception; Jake Monks with two solo tackles, two tackle assists; Eric Miller with one solo tackle, two tackle assists, two passes broken up; Mark Clark with one solo tackle, one tackle assist; Devon Jones with two tackle assists; Mike Peditto with two tackle assists; Jesse Tom with one tackle assist; and Justin England with one tackle assist.
