Hornets drop away game, 36-8.

The Wellsboro Area High School football team suffered another setback Friday night September 30, as they dropped an away game against Wyaluaing.
The young Hornets never recovered from a third quarter kickoff that the Rams returned for a touchdown early in the third quarter.
"The score indicates nothing about what happened in the game," commented Hornets head coach Chris Morral.
His Hornets did some good things, Morral said, but they could not put together a complete game. A key for Wellsboro in the coming weeks will be to eliminate mental mistakes and improve on special teams.
"We did some good things and we did some bad things," Morral said.
Wellsboro did manage more than 200 yards total offense, with Jesse Tom running for 76 yards and Jake Coolidge running for another 74. However, junior quarterback Tim Shaw only completed one pans and the Rams picked him off five times. On special teams, the Hornets allowed a crucial touchdown on a kick off return and the punt coverage unit allowed the Rams to start with decent field position all night.
To the Hornets' credit, they come into practice with a good attitude, Morral said, and the team continues to improve every week.
On Friday, the Rams started the scoring in the first quarter on a 20 yard run by quarterback Zack Reinhart. The extra point attempt was no good and Wyalusing took a 6-0 lead. The Rams would add a second touchdown with 6:38 left in the second quarter. The two-point conversion was good and Wyalusing took a 11-0 lead into the locker room.
Things started to look up for the Hornets early in the third quarter. Wellsboro put together a drive to start off the quarter and capped it off with a 50 yard touchdown run by Jake Monks. Jake Coolidge took the ball in for the two-point conversion and put Wellsboro in striking distance, but down 14-8.
Wyalusing did not take long to respond. On the ensuing kickoff, Johnson returned the ball 78 yards for the touchdown. Reinhart ran in the two-point conversion and Wyalusing, holding a 22-8 lead, never looked back.
"That broke our backs," Morral said of the return.
The Rams went on to score two more touchdowns in the final quarter on short runs by Tim Millard and Craig Ciprich Wyalusing also hit both extra point kicks to take the 36-8 victory.
Wellsboro (2-3) will try to end their three game skid as they host Muncy this Friday in a non-league match up. Friday is also Small Fry Night in Wellsboro.
