The NTL high school varsity football was back in action for the new season as of Friday, September 4. The Wellsboro Hornets played host to Cowanesque Valley, securing their first win, 21-7 over the Indians.
Hornets Fall to Troy.
Troy's Beau Parker led the Trojans to the scoreboard with an 18 yard run into the end zone, following four minutes later with a 37 yard touchdown to lead the Hornets 13-0 in the first quarter.
Hornets Fall to Lewisburg.
The Hornets traveled to Lewisburg on Friday, September 18 to face off on the field with the Green Dragons in another night of high school football action.
Rams take down Wellsboro Hornets, 37-6.
After a season opening 21-7 victory for the Hornets, who played host to Cowanesque Valley, Wellsboro has fallen to a 1-3 record, suffering three consecutive losses. The latest, an NTL 6-37 loss on Friday, September 25, at Wyalusing facing off with the Rams.
Redskins down Hornets.
The Wellsboro Hornets headed to Sayre to face off with the Redskins on Friday night, October 2, suffering yet another NTL loss, 26-46.
Hornets suffer fifth consecutive loss.
Hungry for a win, obviously, the Hornets prepared as they played host to Towanda on Friday, October 9.
Wildcats overpower Hornets.
After suffering five consecutive losses, Wellsboro (1-5) had to travel to Athens on Friday, October 16, and face off with the Wildcats (4-2).
Warriors shut down the Hornets.
Garnering only one win thus far this season, in their home opener against Cowanesque Valley, the Hornets played host to Canton on Friday, October 23, for their annual homecoming festivities, suffering yet another loss in the field.
Tigers squeeze by Hornets in final minutes.
Wellsboro has sure hit a rough patch this season on the field, battling back after seven consecutive losses in hopes of controlling the game, they played host to East Juniata in their final home matchup of the year with the lead over the Tigers until until the final quarter.
Panthers Shut out Hornets.
The annual night of arch rivalry was once again played out on the field, this year at Island Park, Blossburg, as the Panthers (4-5) played host to the Hornets (1-8).
