Garnering only one win thus far this season, in their home opener against Cowanesque Valley, the Hornets played host to Canton on Friday, October 23, for their annual homecoming festivities, suffering yet another loss in the field.
The cold, wet weather didn't factor into the outcome for the Warriors as they shut down Wellsboro 20-0, scoring 14 points in the first quarter alone.
Canton's Billy Sourbeer ran for 14 yards, only four minutes into the game, following four minutes later connecting with a 24 yard pass from Ben Pepper, leaving Wellsboro with a 0-14 deficit.
Sourbeer added to the shutout with a six yard run into the end zone with less than two minutes left in the third quarter, concluding the scoring of the game.
Passing for Wellsboro, freshman Ben Shaw went 4-12 for 28 yards and threw two interceptions, while sophomore Thomas Johnston garnered two receptions for 18 yards and rushed seven times for 19 yards.
Ryan Moss also aided the Hornets, gaining 102 yards on eight carries.
The Hornets will play host on Friday, October 30 to East Juniata, in their final home matchup, before concluding the regular season with the annual rivalry pairing with the Panthers of North Penn, on Friday, November 6.
