The Wellsboro Hornets headed to Sayre to face off with the Redskins on Friday night, October 2, suffering yet another NTL loss, 26-46.
In the first quarter, Sayre's Tyler Williams recorded the first one yard touchdown to put the Redskins on the board.
Following, in the second quarter, Williams again with a one yard run into the end zone, put the Redskins up 13-0 before Wellsboro's Ryan Moss ducked through the defense on a one yard run to put the Hornets on the board. The extra point failed.
Robbie Rought ran a 49 yard jaunt into the end zone, returning with yet another 38 yard interception to score for the Redskins before the Hornets' Aaron Moss handled a five yard run to score.
Rought ended the first half with a 20 yard gain into the end zone, leading the half 25-12 over the Hornets.
The Redskins returned in the third quarter ready for more battle taking another two yard run by Joe Yanuzzi into the zone.
Wellsboro's Ethan Callahan garnered a 53 yard pass from freshman Ben Shaw, with 10:17 showing on the clock in the fourth quarter, to gain on the Redskins. Also aiding Wellsboro with a run included sophomore Thomas Johnston with a one yard leap into the end zone before the Redskins secured the win with a two yard run by Rought with 2:44 left in the quarter.
Ben Shaw posted 9-19 for 151 yards passing for the Hornets, along with Ryan Moss, rushing 10 times for 42 yards and Thomas Johnston, six times for 20 yards.
The Hornets will now face off with the Black Knights of Towanda when they play host this Friday night, October 9.
