Wellsboro suffered yet another season loss, 47-0 to Loyalsock on Friday, October 15.

Loyalsock's Mike Kinney began the night with a 10 yard run into the end zone only 10 minutes into the game, taking a 6-0 lead over the Hornets.

In the second quarter, Kinney returned connecting with a nine yard pass from Tyler Bogaczyk, and a two-point conversion kick to advance to 13-0.

Jackson Person broke through the defense to score on a 33 yard pass from Bogaczyk with seven minutes remaining in the half.

With a 35 yard touchdown run, Mike Dougherty scored for Loyalsock, returning with a 52 yard pass from Bogaczyk to end the half 35-0 over Wellsboro.

Loyalsock's Robbie Newton took a 19 yard run into the end zone late in the fourth, followed by a one yard run by Bobby Oeler, securing the 47-0 shut out over the Hornets.

With seven first downs, Wellsboro posted only 38 yards rushing, 109 passing and two penalties for 15 yards.

Loyalsock posted 20 first downs with 372 yards rushing and 92 passing, along with 11 penalties for 95 yards.

Wellsboro's Ben Shaw, a sophomore, surpassed the 1,000 yard passing milestone, after completing 8-for-19 attempts for 109 yards. Shaw now adds to the Hornets' record book* with a total of 1,081 yards.

"1,000 yards is good at this point," stated Wellsboro head coach Brandon Falk, "but our offense could be more successful. He does work hard to study each opponent and the longer he in this system, the better his decision making will become."

"Eliminating turnovers and interceptions will also come with his age. The next two years will be very exciting for Ben in this offense. A 4,000 yard career could be possible if the team stays the course."

Falk continued about the lack of gaining yardage vs. Loyalsock, "We were put in a good position by a penalty in the first quarter, and one long gain in the second quarter. We had opportunities to put the ball in the end zone but a goal line stand by a much bigger and older Sock defensive line and a turnover kept us out the end zone."

"That was our second turnover of the game and really kept what could have been a 21-14 game at the half at a 35-0 advantage to Loyalsock," continued Falk.

Looking to conclude the season in the next couple of weeks, Falk commented on the field conditions and taking on very tough and physical opponents. "We have proven to ourselves that we can have bright moments against big teams but need to convert these moments into points. As for hosting North Penn, records can be thrown out the window in a rivalry game. Anything can happen."
