TROY - Chance Wright rushed for 137 big yards and two touchdowns to lead the Troy Trojans to a shocking 34-7 upset win over the visiting North Penn Panthers.

"We had a lot to prove today and we earned respect in out division by beating a really good team tonight," said first-year Troy coach Kevin Schucker.

The Trojan defense limited the Panthers to just 150 yards, after rolling up over 200 on the ground alone in each of the first two weeks. "Our defense stopped a really good running team tonight," added Schucker. "It was an all around effort."

Schucker praised the Trojan offensive line for their performance, which aided in their rolling up 296 yards on the ground.

"Our o-line has worked really hard this season and did a great job tonight." North Penn struck first on their second possession of the game, as Justin Harris bulled in for a three yard scoring run with 2:43 left to play in the first quarter.

Little did they realize that this would be the last time they would see the end zone against a very tough Troy defense.

Wright tied the game at 7-7 with 8:27 left in the half with a five yard scoring run. From there it was all Troy.

In the third quarter, the Trojans scored on their first possession of the half as Vance Spencer gave the Trojans the lead for good with 8:50 left in the third quarter with a two yard scoring run.

After stopping the Panthers on a fourth-and-14 at the Troy 24, Wright found the end zone for the second time in the night, this time from nine yards out with 1:09 left in the third for a 21-7 Troy lead.

The Trojans extended their lead to 28-7 midway through the fourth when David Conklin capped some strong running with a four-yard scoring run with 5:43 left to play. The Trojans weren't done yet though.

After a North Penn fumble on their own 31-yard line, the Trojans capped the scoring when Brad Morgan rolled in from nine yards out with 2:59 left to play.

Wright finished the night with 137 yards on 16 carries while Morgan added 83 yards on 12 carries.

Spencer finished the night completing 6-of-11 passes for 83 yards with Morgan finishing as the team's leading receiver with three receptions for 45 yards.

Harris led the Panthers with 69 yards on 15 carries. Bryce Weaver completed 3-of-8 passes for 24 yards. Jesse Kriner was the Panthers' leading receiver with two catches for 21 yards.

The Trojans, now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NTL Large School Division, will travel to South Williamsport next Friday. The Panthers, now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NTL Large School Division, will host Athens next Friday.
