Wellsboro blanks WyalusingWellsboro broke open a close game in the second half to beat Wyalusing 48-0 in NTL Division-I football action Saturday.

Quinn Henry led the Hornets with 126 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries while going 5-for-8 for 47 yards through the air.

Brent English added 12 tackles on the defensive side with teammate Dominic Spencer getting 10 tackles with one sack.

This is Wellsboro's sixth shutout of the year and they have allowed just 33 points all season.

After a scoreless first quarter, Henry found the endzone with 9:07 left in the first half on a 34 yard run. Jacob Singer added the point after to make it a 7-0 Wellsboro lead.

Then with 4:05 left to play in the second quarter, Chase Moser fumbled the ball while trying to reach past goal line only to have teammate Taylor Baker fall on it for the touchdown.

Brandon Lamphier hit Parker Jones for the 2-point conversion to make it 15-0 at the half.

Then with 9:10 left in the third quarter, Dalton Prough returned a fumble 38 yards to paydirt. Singer added the point after for a 22-0 lead.

Wellsboro then went on to score four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

With 11:55 left in the game, Moser scored on an 8-yard run. The 2-point try was no good and Wellsboro led 28-0.

Alex Kozuhowski then got into the action with 5:23 left scoring on a 5-yard run. The kick was no good to make it 34-0 Hornets.

With 3:45 left to play Aidan Hauser found the end zone on a 21 yard run. Singer's kick was good to make it 41-0.

The final score came with 32 seconds on the clock as Alex Burrell ran one in from 8-yards out. Carson Davis' kick was good for the 48-0 final.

Moser had 13 carries for 84 yards, Dupree Hosey had eight touches for 55 yards, Hauser had three carries for 50 yards and Kozuhowski had five touches for 33 yards for the Hornets.

Prough had one catch for 29 yards while Parker Jones had two catches for 13 yards. Lamphier had two catches for four yards while Hosey had a reception for four yards.

Derek Frederick led the rams with seven carries for 64 yards while Derrick Clark had seven carries for 15 yards. Ryan Kipp had 10 touches for eight yards.

Under center Calvin Burke was 6-for-21 for 74 yards.

Will Martin was his top receiver with one catch for 22 yards while Kipp had two receptions for 16 yards. Frederick had one catch for 15 yards, Bryton Barna had a catch for 12 yards and Carl Gowin had a catch for nine yards.

Wellsboro will face NP-Mansfield for the Morton F. Jones Trophy next week with the NTL Division-I title also on the line.
