The South Williamsport Mountaineers were all over the field in their 48-26 win over North Penn-Mansfield.

Gideon Green led the way running for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Ashton Martin tacked on 124 yards and two touchdowns of his own. The Mounties dominated in all phases of the game and had the Panthers on their heels from the first whistle to the last.

Martin got things started when he ripped a 64-yard touchdown run up the middle on the fourth play of the game. The Mountie defense kept the momentum going on the ensuing Panther drive when Austin Nash intercepted a pass in the end zone and ran it back 100 yards for a touchdown. Green capped off the ensuing Mountie drive with a 6-yard touchdown run that put South Williamsport up big in the first quarter.

The Mountie offensive line continued their great play from last week and dominated the line of scrimmage all night to open up some big holes for Green and Martin.

Quarterback A.J. Flick also has a nice game throwing for 98 yards and touchdowns to Cole Lentz and Nash. Flick also had an interception and two pass breakups. The Mounties also did a tremendous job on defense with guys like Luke Winner and Ben Johnson making tackles all over the field.

The Panthers had spurts where they moved the ball well, but just couldn’t stay consistent over the course of the game. Brent Burleigh threw for 112 yards and had a nice touchdown throw to wide receiver Dylan Wesneski in the back corner of the end zone. Burleigh also added 32 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Promising junior Isaac Way had some nice runs in the second half and was the Panthers’ leading rusher with 51 yards. Way also had five tackles and a fumble recovery. Garrett David had a big night on the defensive side, recording six tackles and a sack. Judson Wise also had six tackles.

The Panthers host Canton next week in their homecoming game.
